Fulsome Switch and the Sunsetting of Gato Curio

I’m happy to introduce and share Fulsome Switch. I recently decided to sunset “Gato Curio” and the name “V.ic666” to better combine two identities I felt were starting to overlap. With the way the world is shifting, making things easier for myself has been the move.
What’s in a name
Fulsome Switch is the artist name and brand that I’ll be sharing intuitive and heartistic work moving forward. For me it is a name that has a few meanings, the predominant one being about the ability to turn or switch on the ability to be abundant—to be in control of abundance.
I picked the word fulsome because I found it interesting. It has a certain ambiguity in its meaning that has changed based on context and usage over time. While fulsome can mean abundance, it’s also been known to mean excess. This illustrates there’s a fine line between the positive and negative and it all depends on the context of the narrator.
This evasion of strict binaries present in the word fulsome is also punctuated when followed by switch. Being a switch is the ability to move between different roles, making or breaking a connection, or turning something on or off. Switching positions or perspectives allows for a clearer view of a situation at play. In spiritual terms, it can carry connotations of switching between viewing a situation as self and what people call a higher self.
Combined, I see Fulsome Switch as being an opportunity to make new connections that lead to decision-making rooted in abundance.
Letting Go of Gato
It was after some personal reflection that I decided to sunset “Gato Curio”. Gato Curio was a fun way for me to explore and share my interest in the spiritual and esoteric, but I felt like I was ready to better integrate my spiritual practices and beliefs into my general artistry and release this alternative identity.
I worked on Gato Curio for four years, first starting it in March of 2021 by offering virtual tarot readings when COVID-19 concerns were still at their peak. By vending at events, sharing art via workshops and sales, and meeting with other makers and intuitive folks, I learned a lot and had fun.
With time, I started to have trouble figuring out where Gato Curio started and where the rest of my interests and art existed in relation to it. I found myself sharing posts of poetry and sound between my personal/art pages and the brand page, and I felt like I was managing two different identities that were beginning to overlap more and more.
These roses punctuated another transitional time in my journey.
The Year Ahead
Earlier last year, I also let go of the name V.ic666 which I used as a performance name while living in Houston and had on my personal Instagram account. But this too felt like a name I had outgrown and wouldn’t serve me in the long run because of longstanding misinterpretations of the number 666. Plus generally edginess, which is fun but not my current vibe.
Moving forward, my artistic exploration and intuitive insights will be shared under this one name, Fulsome Switch.
