Full Moon Consideration: Eight of Pentacles and the Seven of Cups

Estimated read is 3 minutes.

It’s the full moon in Libra, according to Vedic astrology ( I prefer to share Vedic placements since it’s more astronomically correct with how the sky is sitting right now). And with the full moon being a good time for reflection, I thought I’d do a follow-up to my last moon post.

I’m happy to share and start to develop a groove that enables me to write more. Since leaving the U.S., I’ve felt like I can breathe a little better. Though I’m not exactly where I would like to be yet, I’ve been able to reflect and grow in a new space. It’s not without work, though. I’ve had to work on learning Spanish and manage various cultural differences that, truthfully, leave my brain feeling a little tired.

If you’re finding this beyond the current date or moon cycle, I hope this post can still provide a little insight.

As always, take what resonates and leave the rest behind.

Let’s get into it.

Collective Tarot Reflection

The Eight of Pentacles and the Seven of Cups prompt us to reflect on the work we have to do and how the relationships we keep help us to move forward on a path that feels aligned and productive to our growth.

Together they form the number 15, which reduces to 6. These numbers indicate both The Devil and The Lovers in the Major Arcana, which are the twenty-two special cards in the tarot deck.

These two cards share a message to work on clear communication, boundary examination, and making decisions out of love for self and love for other people.

A fitting read with the sign of Libra being all about relationships, balance, harmony, and the planet of love—Venus.

Eight of Pentacles

I wrote a little about the pentacles before and how these coin-based cards are about more than money. They ask us to examine how we spend our time, money, and energy. And tell us that each action is an action that builds a future, not just spiritually but also in the physical.

Every time I see this particular pentacle card, the message is loud and clear—get to work!

Nothing happens until we start to make some movements. With the current state of the world, many governments are moving further to the right and more extreme—there’s almost a collective begging for things to be different. And these differences we desire don’t come from just sitting back. We have to put pen to paper, build what we want to see, and start to map out or draw plans for how things can be or work differently.

Eight is a kinda gut punch of a number with a certain intensity. It is associated with the planet of Saturn, tied to karmic understanding through cycles of time and space. It is a reminder that some things don’t come to fruition quickly. We have to be diligent to get what we want.

Seven of Cups

While the Eight of Pentacles urges us to build, the Seven of Cups asks us to choose wisely what we’re building toward. The Seven of Cups shares that there are many relationships we have to examine to figure out what feels right. And this is about more than relationships with other people. It’s also about the relationships we have with our art, our work, our home, the items we keep around us, and the routines we make.

Use your intuition to figure out what feels authentic to you. Life is not about fitting in or putting on a mask to appease others. Take a breather and decide where your time is best spent.

In short, we have to make sure we are enabling ourselves to make a relationship with the future we desire while building a foundation for it today.

Takeaway

Here are some actions for consideration.

  • Examine work that we’ve completed that has made us feel good about the world we exist in.

  • Consider work that we would like to do to build the futures we desire.

  • Lay out a plan for how we might achieve our future goals. Understand it can be flexible and things might change with new information and relationships formed.

  • Consider relationships we currently keep or that keep us. What feels good and what needs readjusting?

  • Draw up boundaries that affirm the reality we desire and set us up for a future that feels good.

  • Create new routines that allow us to walk towards our dreams.
